Hagan to the Rescue

CONGRATULATIONS:  Emylee Doza and Holli Buretta were notified that they have been chosen as 2017 Hagan Scholarship Recipients!

We are currently in the midst of the “scholarship season” one might say.  Seniors are filling out applications left and right. Specifically, three students were contacted in the fall about a rare opportunity. Due to outstanding academic achievement, graduating from a rural area, and financial need, seniors Holli Buretta, Emylee Doza, Vanessa Seaman were contacted about the Hagan Foundation Scholarship. Starting in November, these girls have had to gather a large amount of information and write detailed essays, just to move on to the second round. All three of them not only proceeded to the next round but have made it all the way to the finals. They had to undergo a two person panel interview recently in Columbia, Missouri.

Dan Hagan, the donator of this award, is looking for successful and dedicated students in rural areas with financial need to present this scholarship with. The purpose of the Hagan Scholarship is to provide each recipient with the opportunity to obtain a four-year college education and graduate college debt free, providing up to $40,000.  Mr. Hagan grew up in a small town and understands the struggles small school students have to face when it comes to college and has created this opportunity to help kids that are in similar circumstances. The girls have made it farther than most people do and will be awarded $2,000 no matter what. If you see them around be sure to tell them congratulations for making it this far in the competition.

Scholarship winners will be announced in early May.  For more information on the Hagan Scholarship, click here.
